Listing Guard is a Chrome extension that checks Etsy listings and messages for common policy risks. This policy explains what it does with data. Short version: your content stays on your computer.
The text of your listings (title, description, tags), the messages you type, the listings CSV you open in the shop audit, and your listing photos are read only to run the checks inside your browser. They are not sent to us or to any third party, and we do not keep copies. We have no server that receives them.
For the photo QR check, the extension downloads listing photos from Etsy's image host (i.etsystatic.com) and decodes them in memory. The photos are not uploaded anywhere and are discarded afterwards.
The "Copy safe version" buttons (listing editor and Messages) and "Safe reply ideas" only write text to your clipboard when you click. The extension never types into Etsy fields and never sends or publishes anything for you.
The audit page has an optional "Shop scan (experimental)" feature that is OFF until you tick "Enable shop scan". Only when it is enabled and you click "Scan shop" does the extension request that shop's public pages (etsy.com/shop/* and etsy.com/listing/*) directly from your browser, with your normal Etsy session cookies, at a slow pace (about one request every 2.5 seconds, 50 listings per run). It never runs in the background or on a schedule. It reads the public title, description and photo links and runs the checks locally; results and a short page cache stay in extension storage on your device and are never sent to us or anyone else. Etsy's Terms prohibit automated scraping and Etsy may rate-limit or restrict your account; use at your own risk.
Only if you use Pro: when you activate or re-check a license, the extension sends your license key and an instance name (a label for this browser) to Lemon Squeezy (api.lemonsqueezy.com), our payment and licensing provider, to confirm the license is valid. Lemon Squeezy's own privacy policy applies to that exchange and to your purchase. We do not receive your payment details.
Using the browser's extension storage, on your device only: your license key, instance id, whether it is valid, the time of the last check, and the latest audit result and scan progress (so a paused scan can resume). Removing the extension deletes this data.
No analytics, no advertising, no cookies set by us, no fingerprinting. We do not sell or share data, and we do not use it for anything other than the extension's single purpose: checking your own Etsy listings and messages for policy risks.
The extension adds its panel only on etsy.com/your/* (listing editor) and etsy.com/messages* (Messages), plus its own audit page. It requests etsy.com/shop/* and etsy.com/listing/* only if you enable the optional shop scan and click Scan. It does not publish, edit or send anything for you.
The extension is intended for adults who run an Etsy shop and is not directed at children.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
